"...well-written, well-rehearsed, well-executed comedy that plays to our intelligence and interests." - The Bastion

Update 8/18/08:

We were in Monday's Red Eye!

This week's guest is

The Geekouts!

...and details on our Texas trip.

Grandma June's Sewing Circle perform at the Apollo Theater's Studio Stage Mondays at 8 p.m.

Hey, did you see the Red Eye Monday on page 20? Pic of us and little write up.

For only two more Mondays at 8pm you can catch two sketch comedy groups for the price of one.

First, a fantastic guest group opens (list below). Then it's Grandma June's Sewing Circle with their latest all-new sketch comedy review. The show is about...well...them. Their fears, disappointments, and failures...shown through the eyes of various made up characters, and some that only seem made up (like David Lee Roth).

Grandma June's Sewing Circle is Chris Bragg, Mike Gillett, Sherra Lasley,
Matt Lovin, Matt Micou, Melanie Sampson, and John Sviokla.

Under the direction of Brian Posen (The Cupid Players), the veteran sketch comedy group performs what The Bastion calls "...well-written, well-rehearsed, well-executed comedy that plays to our intelligence and interests."

Apollo Theater Studio Stage (2540 N. Lincoln Ave.)
Mondays. 8pm
Tickets $15, $12 for students

MORE ON THIS WEEK'S SPECIAL GUEST...

August 18 & 25 - The Geekouts! - Starring former Circle member John Serve. Nerd alert to the entire show.

The GeekOuts!, a sketch comedy group with a serious addiction to pop culture--especially when it comes to The Goonies. Their first show, More Amazing Than the Time Michael Jackson Came To Your House to Use the Bathroom, opened at Donny's Skybox on April 15, 2005. They followed that up with Sophomore Effort, which ran for 5 weeks this past spring at the Skybox and was directed by Matt Micou. We also performed at Chicago Sketchfest 2007. Their third show was Get Outta My Dreams and Onto My Unicorn and ran last year at Donny's Skybox.
