Grandma June's Sewing Circle returns to the Apollo Theater's Studio Stage Mondays at 8 p.m. starting May 12th. Under the direction of Brian Posen (Sketchfest, The Cupid Players), the veteran sketch comedy group is in their fifth year of performing what The Bastion calls "...well-written, well-rehearsed, well-executed comedy that plays to our intelligence and interests." And this time they have invited a special guest group to open for them each week. So it's two great groups for the price of one! Apollo Theater Studio Stage (2540 N. Big Baby is Joe Phillips, Anthony Oberbeck, and Jack Farrell, by height. They have improvised with each other for over a year. They have lived together for almost a year. They recently wrote a sketch show and made Mike Maltz direct it. Mike Maltz is their friend and roommate. He's probably a little before Joe in the list, but just barely. Anthony speaks Spanish and Jack can't breath. One time they all Googled "Google" and someone's cancer was cured. Upcoming guests... |
